The great thing about crowdfunding is that people can receive something tangible in return for their contribution to someone else’s idea. At Indiegogo, we call this a “perk.” From a handwritten Thank You note to a part in a movie, perks can come in all forms, shapes, sizes, and prices. These were the top 12 perks of 2012:

This perk earned you alpha, beta, and final versions of the game, which combines elements of Halo and Starcraft.

 

Allegiance Audience – $1

Allegiance the Musical – World Premier Production

Location: San Diego, California

One of the highest claimed perks of the year provided contributors, “Our immense gratitude, plus: Public acknowledgment of supporter’s name on a designated page on the Allegiance Website.”

Pilamaye from Oceti Sakowin – $20

Pe’ Sla: Help Save Lakota Sioux Sacred Land!

Location: Rapid City, South Dakota

A “Pilamaye” or “Thank You” from the Sioux Nation (Oceti Sakowin) for helping them save their sacred lands in the Black Hills.
